When Hiring a contractor
WHEN HIRING A CONTRACTOR:
Check Out Your Contractor
n Did you contact the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) to check the status
of the contractorÕs license?
Contact the CSLB at 1-800-321-CSLB (2752) or visit our web site: www.cslb.ca.gov.
n Did you get at least 3 local references from the contractors you are considering?
Did you call them?
n Building PermitsÑwill the contractor get a permit before the work starts?
n Check Out the Contract
n Did you read and do you understand your contract?
n Does the 3-day right to cancel a contract apply to you?
Contact the CSLB if you donÕt know.
n Does the contract tell you when work will start and end?
n Does the contract include a detailed description of the work to be done, the material
to be used, and equipment to be installed?
This description should include brand names, model numbers, quantities and colors.
Specific descriptions now will prevent disputes later.
n Are you required to pay a down payment?
If you are, the down payment should never be more than 10% of the contract price or
$1,000, whichever is less.
n Is there a schedule of payments?
If there is a schedule of payments, you should pay only as work is completed and not
before. There are some exceptionsÑcontact the CSLB to find out what they are.
n Did your contractor give you a ÒNotice to Owner,Ó a warning notice describing liens
and ways to prevent them?
Even if you pay your contractor, a lien can be placed on your home by unpaid laborers,
subcontractors, or material suppliers. A lien can result in you paying twice or, in some cases,
losing your home in a foreclosure. Check the ÒNotice to OwnerÓ for ways to protect yourself.
1. ALWAYS verify CA License #
2. ALWAYS verify insurance
3. Down payment: Never pay more than $1000 or 10% of total price.
4. NEVER pay cash

Our History
This is Brandon Gaidano, owner and operator of O.C. Home Solutions. I want to thank you for your interest in our company. I originally founded O.C. Home Solutions in 2005 as a small handman service, but over the years we now handle larger construction renovations and home remodels.
As a licensed general contractor, my overall understanding of the home building process comes from direct hands on experience.
I started from the ground up, initially as a laborer and trench digger for a small construction company. From there I focused on working with the different tradesmen gaining knowledge in a variety of areas. I would also volunteer with habitat for humanity in Costa Mesa, Ca.
After graduating college I became a jobsite superintendent managing a tract home developement in Irvine, Ca for one of the nation's largest home builders.
In 2005 I took a chance and start my own company and become a licensed general contractors myself. 6 years later I am still hammering away today.
To ensure quality and accountability, I brings my "hands on" approach and attitude to every project to ensure excellence and integrity from start to finish.
I am in this business becomes I love construction, seeing a project transform is almost as exciting for me as it is the home owner.
